Why You Need More Than A 'Pretty' Website

Successful websites aren't simply pretty. Your small business or nonprofit website needs to be conceived with your ideal audience in mind, and designed to lead visitors to take the type of action you want them to take.

Audience

Too often small business owners believe that their product or service is for everyone. Spoiler Alert: It isn't.You need to define your audience so that your website speaks directly to your ideal client or customer.

Objective

What exactly do you want a visitor to do when they land on your site? Should they fill out a form, call you, download info, schedule a consult, buy something, or sign up for your course? I'll help you define the objectives of the site.

Strategy

Once the objectives are defined, we'll map out a plan, create a strategy, decide on tactics, and put them to work on your site. The result: a site that attracts your perfect customers and increases profits for your business.

Barefoot Web Designs FAQ

How long will it take to design and build my website?

Most often, you can have your new site up and running in three to four weeks or so, but the timeline varies with every client. The biggest variable in the timeline is how long it takes you to provide me with the content (text and images) needed for the site.

Will you register my domain for me?

No, you should always register your own domains. If anyone (web designer, developer, marketing agency, anyone...) ever says they will take care of registering your domain, run away. If they register it, they control it, not you. That means they can charge you more, change terms, or even take your domain away from you, because they are essentially the owners of that domain.

So again, ALWAYS REGISTER YOUR DOMAINS YOURSELF. I use Google Domains to register mine. Quick, easy, only $12/year, and they don't try to upsell you on a bunch of services you don't need.

Can you redesign my existing website?

Absolutely! If your site is looking a little tired, dated, or just doesn't reflect you or your business any more, a redesign can be a big boost for your business.

Which credit cards do you accept?

I accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover through my secure online payment system.

How much will a new website cost?

Every website is different, with differing requirements, functionality, content, and time frames. As such, I'll want to learn as much about your business and website needs before providing you with a custom quote.

Do you require a long-term contract?

Virtual WordPress Webmaster services are month to month and you can cancel at any time after a minimum three month term.

Do I have to keep paying that monthly fee forever?

Short answer, no. Virtual Webmaster plans require only a minimum three month term, and you are free to cancel at any point after that. If you cancel, you will be responsible for providing your own hosting account and transferring your site to that host. If you would like to use the same webhost that I use (Flywheel), we can simply transfer the billing to you and you won't need to worry about transferring your site at all.

What if I need more project time in a month?

While most clients find one hour of project time per month to be plenty, if you have a larger project in a month, you simply pay an hourly rate for any time beyond your included hour.

How will I be charged?

Plans are on a monthly subscription basis, billed in advance. Barefoot accepts credit cards and ACH. You will be automatically billed for your plan every month until you cancel.

Does my project time roll over if I don't use it?

No, if  don't use your project time credit in the billing period it was earned, it will not roll over into the next month, and it does not accumulate.

What types of businesses do you work with?

I work mainly with small businesses and nonprofits. I have built and maintain sites for human service organizations, schools, unions, salons, consultants, speakers, authors, restaurants, service providers, and others.

How often do you back up my site?

Your site is automatically backed up daily. All backups are stored securely offsite so that if disaster ever strikes, your backups are still safe and sound.

Do you monitor uptime?

Yes, your site will be checked every 5 minutes to make sure it is up and running. If your site is down, I'm notified automatically and will check out the situation. Most downtime is the result of a temporary glitch with your webhost and is rectified within a minute or so. In that case, I won't even bother you. If it is something more than that, I'll be in touch to fill you in on the situation.

Do you offer web hosting?

Yes, high quality web hosting is included with Barefoot Virtual Webmaster plans. If your site is already hosted elsewhere, as part of the Virtual Webmaster plan we'll transfer it to Barefoot's hosting and you'll be able to cancel your current hosting account.

Can I add Virtual Webmaster to multiple sites?

Yes you can. Additional sites are $129/month for the Basics plan, and $179/month for the Business plan. All sites must be on the same plan.

What can I use my monthly project time for?

You can use it to have me fix something on your site, add a plugin or functionality, update your design, add or edit content, discuss strategy, etc.

Will I be able to add blog posts on my own?

Sure thing. Once your site is up and running, WordPress makes it easy for you to add content to your site.

How often do you scan my site for malware?

Your site will be scanned daily for malware or other irregularities daily.

I broke my site. Can you restore a backup?

Yes, I can do that as part of the project time you're allotted per month.

What happens if a plugin update breaks my site?

The short answer is I'll fix it. I can roll back the update using your last backup, or if there is a plugin conflict that I can identify, I'll see if I can rectify that for you.

How long do you store backups?

Backups are stored for 30 days on a rolling basis.
